I found cute wall pockets here by Cathe Holden, they are made out of old painted canvas' or new ones. My friend Donna and I decided to make some for ourselves. Donna used new canvas that were deep. I had some old painted ones that were not as deep. I like the deep ones better, they will hold more stuff!
First you hot glue the burlap on the canvas, then play. We had the best time finding weird hokey things to embellish them with.
We printed out words and numbers on the computer and Mod Podged them on. We used soda can tabs for the hangers. Just hot glue them on the back, or buy hanger things....
We hot glued a little box that my business cards came in on the side, and painted wooden knobs, and used old buttons. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I would put two hangers on the ones with a box so when you put something in it, it won't be off-centered and tip!
I took them in to my local craft store, Porters.....and showed them what they could do with their canvas' and burlap.
Amy the manager gave me all kinds of fun scrap booking supplies and I went home and had a BLAST just creating models for the Porter's store. I added a piece of scrap booking paper to the back inside of the canvas. You have to do that first before you hot glue the burlap....TRUST ME ON THAT ONE. Just use quick tacky glue on the paper and roll it slightly and slip into place. It doesn't have to be as long as the frame, because the bottom is hid by the burlap. That makes it easier to slide in.
I painted some of the canvas sides. On the aqua one, I added a little wooden box, put some push pins on the bottom. I used a Distress Ink pad and distressed the canvas and twine after it was glued in place...and then I used the distress ink on any/everything else!

Hooray-- I am at it again.  More crochet for another granny octagon throw....and more wool for my basket quilt. Remember Lucy's   site?  Her tutorial is SO GREAT! This time around, I am using Lion Brand Cotton Ease.  It is so nice and quite thin with a G  (4.25) hook.  I am liking it except I had to order yarn on line here to get all the colors I wanted.  I hope they come this week!  I think it is  my, "something to do at nights during the winter months project."  Did you notice the centers are aqua?

A few years ago I bought a large artist's sketch book, 11x 14.  It is huge and has a lot of pages.  I think I blogged about it years ago.  I keep pictures from magazines in it that I like.  I started doing some art journaling....doodling in it and now I don't like it as much. So I am going to refine some of the doodling.  I may even color copy some of the pages and re-do them.  The next art journal  I am working on  is mostly collage.
My friend Teresa asked me about art journaling.  Here is the link to my previous post from a year or two.  It really is just cutting "stuff" up, pasting it someplace, and doodling around it and making an ARTFUL mess on paper to keep your brain occupied.

I am making these!
Here is where you can get the instructions.....they should be easy!

Here is my finished SNICKERDOODLE quilt.  The pattern is Cotton Way, find it here! The fabric is Bonnie and Camille's (they are the Cotton Way and Thimble Blossom ladies from Moda.)  This is their newest fabric, Vintage Modern. I said in my other post that I put their flannel on the back...........OH MY GOODNESS, it is INCREDIBLE!!  You must get some.  I waited until it was on sale and I am not sorry!  Not too heavy, but OH SO SOFT!!
