WINTER

My friend asked what I liked about winter. I said I only like two things about winter.
1. When the sun shines and makes the snow sparkle.
2. When winter is gone!
This was looking out my front door last year and we are almost there now. Even though I don't personally like winter, I know we need the water for the crops in our farming community... for all you people who eat Idaho Potatoes! I didn't get my beach house in Southern California worked out for this year, but I am going to see my sister in Southern California in January and hopefully February. That will have to get me through.

BRAVE GIRLS CLUB

These are the Brave Girls, you must check out their website. It is one of the most positive and interesting places I have been in a long time. They have an online club, daily positive thoughts in your email and uplifting messages.....classes and retreats that have a long waiting list. Such a fun place to visit, hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Check here for their story.

EMBARRASSING SCRAPS

Finally, this circle polka- dot quilt top is finished....
This is the embarrassing part. I bought polka-dot fabric "here and there" not keeping track of how much I had accumulated....needless to say, I had enough for the back...plus a little more! My logic was, "I need a good variety of dots!"

GRATITUDE

Rebecca Sower has a post about Gratitude that touched me deeply in a way words cannot express. I hope I can gain a better attitude of gratitude, not just at this Thanksgiving time, but everyday. Thank you to all who have visited my blog world.

PAPER GOODS

Old paper and books are like a sickness for me.
When I see them, I want to touch them.
I image all kinds of fun things to make with them.
I am a tactile person, so perhaps it comes from that....I don't know, but it is just about as bad as fabric. You know those people who go crazy in a fabric store, or a scrapbook supply store? I go crazy in old book stores. I have seen some wonderful things online made with old paper. Check here for a perfectly lovely gift favor! I loved the feather!

I COULD LIVE HERE

Every city has a few of "those" houses that are so adorable to look at.
These first three are from a very small neighboring city.
Gone are the days of the sweet covered front porch.
This one is in my city. I think it is so sweet. It was restored quite a few years ago and I knew owners and was lucky enough to go through it. The rooms were very small of course, but the remodel was so fun to see. The finish work was so amazing that when we finally built our house, I hired the same guy. He also did my kitchen cabinets.
How could you not want to live in a house with a beautiful gate like this? Where did all the master craftsmen go?

DESIGN BRAIN

What happens when your design brain goes on vacation for 6 months? It snows outside...forcing me to stay indoors in the sewing room....looking for something to do...then I think about designing....Here is a sneak peek of something I have been working on. More to come later.

FALL

We have had a beautiful 6 weeks of fall weather. This was an old run-down little farm that someone bought and has fixed up. All the buildings are so nicely re-done. I believe they hold weddings and other gatherings here. In the Spring and Summer all the plantings are so beautiful. I love how they lined up the pumpkins.
We are fortunate to have 4 seasons....even if our Spring is wet and windy, we still have one.
This year the wind did not blow all the leaves off the trees like it usually does in years past....we still have beautiful trees around the city. Such a nice, quiet, peaceful time of year. I feel so blessed to live in such a beautiful country.

SEWING SANTAS

I've been sewing Santa dolls for my friend's shop.
These two have coats made from a pair of corduroy pants from the local thrift shop.
The corduroy pants were men's and quite large....my husband saw them laying on the sewing room floor and asked, "Whose pants?" I smiled and said they were for Santa doll coats. He knew they had potential, but smiled and walked out of the room.
Mr. and Mrs. Santa.
In Raggedy Anne and Andy form! These were a set of Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls my friend had for years that needed a "new look!" So, they got stripped down, fluffed up and redressed....hope she likes them!
