PEACH JAM AND BREAD

First I canned peaches...I have always loved how beautiful bottled fruit is, and how warm and satisfying it is to see them on the fruit-room/pantry shelf. (My parents had a fruit room in the basement, did any of yours?) My husband who rarely says anything, made the comment that they would sure taste good this winter!
Then I made peach jam and threw a few huckleberries in the top of each jar.
Then I had a "hanker'in" for homemade bread to go with my peach-huckleberry jam. It has been a while since I made a whole batch of homemade bread...not from the bread maker! Like your mother always said... good bread making is a skill...it turned out okay, but I am sure out of practice. It tasted so good with the jam! I thanked God today for the fruits of the season. I LOVE the fresh fruits!

Do you share your bread recipe? The loaves look delicious, and all together, everything is beautiful. Like a still life!

Have you tried Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day? In the cooler weather I make a batch of dough at the beginning of the week to keep in the fridge, then cut off what I need during the week to make loaves. You have to try it! Here in Pennsylvania, we are looking forward to apple season. Last year we picked over 80 lbs of apples & making applesauce. The grandkids loved helping by running some of the apples through the food mill.

Sheri, your put-up fruits look divine!

Everything looks so yummy! My mum used to bake bread with my grandmother, to sell during the lean years after the depression.

I am still looking for the bread recipe I used years ago....this is a new recipe, not as fluffy as the one I had.

Oh yes, we had a fruit room/vegetable cellar in our basement growing up. The peaches that sat on the shelf there looked just like yours!
I made 14 jars of raspberry jelly today - preserving must be in the air.
