KNITTING?

I saw a woman knitting at market. I thought to myself, "I haven't knitted in a long time." I learned how to knit as a young girl in Primary class at church. One year we learned how to embroider, the next year knit; and the next year we learned how to crochet. I am so glad we did. My daughter knits...she taught herself from this Internet site. So, for a change of scenery I am knitting a few wash cloths, and crocheting a few hot pads..... happy knitting to those who knit! If you want to start, invest in bamboo needles....they make all the difference!

yep as you may know I am a knitter. I have a dishcloth on needles now and about 12 WIP's! I was a little bored with quilting (if that's possible) and took up knitting...back to more quilting now!

I've always wanted to learn how to knit... my great aunt left me a bundle of crochet blankets, needlepoints and one quilt.. its the "craft" history of my family so to say and I'm the only one currently making new things... I think knitting needs to be added to the list but I'm afraid that I'll run out of space since fabric is already taking over my house!

Yay Sheri! Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting! I've been on a cotton yarn kick myself for the past few months and have made dozens and dozens of cotton cloths, mostly Tunisian Short Row which I show how to do on my website, but a few knit. I love working with the cotton yarn, and the dishcloths are such quick and satisfying little projects.

Have fun with your needles!

Sheri...Last weekend I went to a local yarn crawl with my mom--kind of like a quilt shop hop for quilters. It was fun, actually, and we met some very nice people. I can knit but never have pursued large projects because I've always been so busy sewing. I bought yarn, though, to make me several scarfs and a kit to make a beautiful sweater for my granddaughter. I know I am probably biting off a lot with that but it was just so pretty and the lady at the shop hand dyes her yarns and says it is so easy to do. I am going to try it! Have a great day!

Still haven't quite got the philosophy of a knitted dish cloth. I use this mesh thing for dishes and a sponge for the counter. I could learn to knit squares and sew them together...

Quilt Market sounds like a lot of fun. And what a lot of books! I'm one that would come home with a lot of books too. Those books look very interesting! Glad you enjoyed it!

Cheers - Shari

I don't do a lot of knitting anymore due to problems with my hands but when I saw the picture on this post I had to comment. I do knit dish cloths and the very pattern you are doing here is the one I make most often, so fast, fun, and easy. I also discovered bamboo needles years ago and love them. Thanks for sharing.
