I sew with a group of 11 women every Wednesday. Every week we drag all our "stuff" to each other's home...machines, projects....etc. The host provides lunch for everyone, we eat, sew and visit....we never husband bash! Some husbands were skeptical about the whole thing. We have been having "sewing day" for about 10 years now........WOW, hard to believe! This is one of the blocks for my book, there are 12 different ones.....if I don't get all those sashing blocks finished, I will be STRESSED when I have to finish all these appliqued blocks!
We have been through great times, grandbabies, moving, going back to college, children's lives....and even death, yes, one of our dear sewing ladies died 4 years ago of colon cancer, 2 years ago one of our lady's husband died from complications of surgery, and now one our lady's son-in-law is dying of brain cancer.....it is so nice to be able to go someplace everyweek and be with someone who cares about you. It has been one of the greatest things in my life!Today sewing day is at my house, I am serving TACO SOUP. Here is the recipe, it is SOOOO easy. Of course we are having chocolate....Chocolate Crackle cookies....we must have chocolate!

Sewing groups are wonderful. I haven't been in one for many years. Yes, food is a must.
Currently I'm making journal covers, little houses, and I need to start a special project for a special friend.
Love your blocks. Sounds like you have some great friends and a great time getting together. Today didn't have much time to sew. I just added a strip to my calendar quilt and traced some embroidery patterns on some fabric.
I don't think I could survive without my quilty girlfriends. We share our happiness and our sorrows and everything in between.
I can hardly wait until your book comes out. I've not tried that kind of applique before but watching you put the blocks together inspires me.
I'm working on a couple of swaps and BOM and quilty group projects so better get off the computer!
I am not sewing on anything right now. I am however reading up on sock knitting and knitting a little stuffed animal elephant, as well as a dish-cloth and potty training my almost 3 year old. YIKES! That's enough to make anyone crazy!
Maybe after the potty training I'll have a sewing day with my friends!
I LOVE that goldenrod color for the stars!
V and Co. inspired me to make a pinwheel, which I've never done before. This last week I have been slowly turning out squares, just late at night while listening to a movie. Today I made a little girl skirt out of a bandanna, another inspiration from her tutorials. It is amazingly easy and so cute! I'll post some pictures on my blog, but it might be a day or two. (It is late and we are heading to Idaho Falls tomorrow.)
I also ordered some fabric to start Camille's Peppermint Posies quilt that I've been in love with for a long time. Can't wait to get started! (I'll finish the pinwheel top first, though.)
Your projects look adorable, and thanks for the recipe! I'd love to be in a quilting group someday, but that might have to wait until my kids are a little older.
Looks yummy! Love your current projects.
I'm working on my Valentine's Day swap stuff, a blanket for my god-daughter, a lap quilt and other odds and ends. Seems never-ending. Will be posting pictures soon... when I actually COMPLETE something. LOL
hmm..well I am working on a layer cake quilt with Portugal fabric line, 3 of the quilts from the book "Baby Fats", a batik jelly roll quilt from the book "Jelly Quilts", Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Designer BOM blocks, and another wallhanging...each project is in different stages. I know it sound weird but I work best in assembly line sewing...I pin, sew, iron etc..and most times I will finish 5-6 projects at once. That way I don't get bored. Now please don't ask about my WIPs that I didn't mention...they are soo numerous...like 50 easily...LOL
I haven't sewed in entirely too long, but hopefully soon!
Love that you posted some recipes! Love chocolate crackle cookies -- I always make them at Christmas but ran out of time this year. Maybe I'll make them this weekend!
I am so doing this!!!! you are so inspiring in all that you do!!
Looks pretty and sounds delicious! I am in the midst of a table quilt, a table runner, a small quilt top, and feeling like a mad woman for starting it all at once! LOL
