GIVE AWAY!!!!!

Anybody want to guess what this is? I am having a small GIVE AWAY for the closest, most clever answer! Tell your friends to come look...............those of you who know, don't tell, guess something else! Did anyone go fabric shopping and go to lunch? Tell me where you went and what you bought and get your name entered again, your odds should be pretty good! I will post where I went and what I bought, kind of like Show and Tell! HURRAH, FABRIC SHOPPING, I love fabric shopping, there is just something about all that fabric in rows, I love to see it and touch it. That is somehow so satisfying to me!

Check out this great blog, modkidboutique. I saw Patty's booth at quilt market in Houston, she is very talented and darling! I loved her fabrics.

I think it is patterns you learned to sew on, or your mom's. A wall of fame so to speak. I wish I could go shopping for Christmas fabric at extremely discounted prices! My 10 y.o. daughter got a sewing machine for Christmas and yesterday we vowed to make gifts this year, but we are starting early! She is new to sewing so she needs time for her gifts. If you know anyone whom wants to get scraps and stuff Christmas related off their hands, send them my way!!!!

I am guessing this is your inspiration board in your sewing room...love the vintage patterns...they would inspire me as well! I had a great fabric shopping day last Friday at Quiltique in Henderson, NV...got some fun stuff, and had lunch with two of my children who were troopers to tag along in the quilt shop!

Well I think your design wall has vintage patterns that were not vintage when purchased. I'm saying they came from your Mom who used them to sew clothes for you when you were little and for your dolls. And I think they're going to be your inspiration for a new line of fabrics and patterns.

It looks like you went through my closet and found old patterns to use as art! I haven't been fabric shopping in quite a while, but I would love to.

Vintage patterns used as art pieces. That's what it looks like to me. No fabric shopping for me but I did stop at Joann's and bought a new rotary ruler and book and I did have lunch with some friends for Christmas. Does that count??

I think you went through my old patterns and are now displaying them on your wall! I recognize so many of those! Clever way to dress up your sewing room.

Sad to say, no fabric shopping and lunches out for me. Boo hoo. It's probably a good thing that we don't have a good fabric store within reasonable driving distance or I would spend about a month's pay every week there! Then I wouldn't have money for lunch!

Come sign up for my winter giveaway before Jan 15!

BTW, that mirror is gorgeous! I love old mirrors with shaped edges and etching on them. They sure don't make them like that anymore.

Looks like you have decorated with the old patterns - weren't the drawings and colors awesome on the old patterns?
I went to my local quilt shop and picked up fat quarters for the Valentine table runner I have been planning on making for a few years.

Hmmm.... My guess is that it is a collage in your wonderful sewing room made from the old patterns you used for your children when they were little (and possibly a few for yourself). Maybe some are your very favorites from then. I think they remind you of days that are past and the fun things you spent your time creating! Having a mirror among them shows you the here and now, and reminds you of all the possibilities for things you can still make in that cute room of yours!
So, we just had two of our children's birthdays, Christmas and our 8th wedding anniversary all within a month of each other, which translates into we have zero money for fabric, although I've seen a lot I'd LIKE to get. However, I did go with my mother in law and pick out some that she will use to make me a nursing cover, and then we went to her house where they had made WONDERFUL homemade chowder. Then we all made suckers together, which we haven't done for years.
Does that count??? (At least I didn't have to do the cooking!)

I think this is your inspiration board for a new line of children's clothing patterns.

Does online fabric shopping count? If so, I just got my order from the Fat Quarter Shop and am ready to hit my sewingn studio!

I am actually looking through the mirror to the other side of the room that has two quilt squares??

They have fabric here in Samoa but not the kind back home, no patterns and no quilting shops. Very few people quilt here.

I just found your blog yesterday but now can't remember who's link I followed.

When I first saw the mirror in the photo I thought, a-ha! That's just what I need! A rear view mirror to see what the kids are doing when I'm sewing! But that's probably not what you use it for. :) I think that you've decorated your sewing area with favorite patterns your mom sewed for you, and maybe a some that you learned to sew on too.

I actually did go fabric shopping yesterday! A rare treat for me. I stopped at my favorite local quilt shop where I picked up some fat quarters and sale fabric, then stopped at the new Bernina shop across the street from it just to take a peek, then I ventured to elfriedesfinefabrics (.com) for the first time where I oohed and ahhed over everything and picked up some gorgeous Japanese cotton calico, ribbon and eyelet lace.

I love old patterns-they remind me of going through my mom's old patterns and remembering my childhood wardrobe-mom made all my clothes when I was little. The mirror reminded me of the past meets the present. I went fabric shopping with my mom and picked up some backing fabric for my jelly filled quilt and the fairy frost fat quarter box. I just love touching fabric. Then mom and I had lunch and watched the snow fall. Such a wonderful day!

It's your new desginer wall covering for your ultra swanky retro sewing room!! Way cool way to recycle vintage pattern enveoples (and may I say eco friendly as well). I love the mirror too.

I did do fabric shopping, with my mom....I only ended up getting 2 patterns for my little girls new 18in doll. But they were on sale for a $1.99. Then we went to lunch at Chili's with my kids!

I think it shows your love of antiques. Old colorful patterns and mirrors.

I went shopping for some lovely blues to make a quilt for my step-son. I have made quilts for my children and grandchildren and I thought it was his turn.

Ooh, I love that mirror and the old patterns! Megan sent me over here to have a try at this.
Let's see...
Your sewing room gives me a feeling I can't describe. A longing, happy feeling, and I think that's what it does for you, too.
The patterns would be from your childhood era, and maybe the actual ones that were sewn for you. It's kind of an Alice in Wonderland inspiration, where you look in the mirror and see your own world as if it's a picture, and the past as if it's the real context you're living in. There's no clear line between the two, and anything is possible. Ah...what a wonderful mixture of nostalgia and hope!
I did go shopping for fabric for a vintage apron, at Sierra's Crafts in Pocatello. I ended up buying a beautiful Mary Englebreit fabric in Jadeite green with red accents.
I then met up with Megan and family, and we had lunch courtesy of my husband, Mark. Wasn't that nice of him?

I think you sit at you desk/ sewing machine and look up at the beautiful mirror and all the patterns you mom used for you. When I was little I would wake up and barbie would have on a new outfit that my mom had made for me. i still have the outfits and the doll. i went shopping and to lunch with my OD, I am doing a mystery BOM. and we got fabric and ate. I need to tell you that two of my favorite things are the color pink, and I adore glitter.
